According to the United States Census Bureau’s 2006 American Community Survey, 30 percent of King County residents are persons of color, and of that group, 336,000 are foreign born. To effectively engage and serve all residents, including non-English speakers, the Local Hazardous Waste Management Program in King County develops partnerships with other agencies and communities, translates information, and uses interpreters to convey its messages and promote its programs and services.
