Local Hazardous Waste Management Program in King County
The Local Hazardous Waste Management Program in King County (Program) is a multi-jurisdictional program whose mission is to protect and enhance public health and environmental quality throughout King County by reducing the threat posed by the production, use, storage and disposal of hazardous materials.
We implement the Program through our five partners: Seattle Public Utilities, King County Solid Waste Division, King County Water & Land Resources Division, Public Health - Seattle & King County, and the Suburban Cities & Suburban Cities Association. Our Program is funded through fees set by the Board of Health from all municipal wastewater treatment facilities, and all public and commercial solid waste disposal activities, in King County. We operate with an approximately $15M annual budget.
Our Program serves the residents and business within the City of Seattle, the unincorporated areas of King County, and the 37 other cities in King County, including: Algona, Auburn, Beaux Arts Village, Bellevue, Black Diamond, Bothell, Burien, Carnation, Clyde Hill, Covington, Des Moines, Duvall, Enumclaw, Federal Way, Hunts Point, Issaquah, Kenmore, Kent, Kirkland, Lake Forest Park, Maple Valley, Medina, Mercer Island, Newcastle, Normandy Park, North Bend, Pacific, Redmond, Renton, Sammamish, SeaTac, Shoreline, Skykomish, Snoqualmie, Tukwila, Woodinville, and Yarrow Point.
